INFRARED SAUNA

We love the infrared sauna at WhittleStrength and highly recommend it to clients as it can be a great recovery tool and potentially can expedite the fat loss process.

We hear a lot about saunas nowadays, but what is the difference between an infrared sauna and a traditional sauna?

A traditional sauna tends to use heat to warm the air. An infrared sauna is different in that it uses light waves to create heat. Rather than suffering through a traditional sauna at ~170 degrees, an infrared sauna typically gets the job done at a much milder ~140 degrees. An infrared sauna works more on a cellular level and therefore has many more benefits than a traditional sauna. Some of those benefits include:

Improved Heart Health: By simply sitting in an infrared sauna you start sweating, your blood vessels dilate increasing blood flow, and your heart rate increases. These natural responses are mimicking low to moderate intensity exercise. Research has shown that infrared saunas can help improve heart health this way and even go as far as lowering blood pressure.

Sore Muscles: By increasing blood circulation throughout the body, the infrared sauna is also thought to improve muscle recovery. This is extremely beneficial for athletes and regular use may lead to improved performance. Infrared sauna has the power to penetrate deeper into the skin, allowing more oxygen rich blood to move through the muscles. This increased blood flow can also help reduce inflammation.

Relaxation (Improved Sleep): Regular infrared sauna use has also been shown to decrease depression, anxiety, and stress levels. By being in a more relaxed and balanced state, research also shows regular infrared sauna use can lead to better quality of sleep.

Fight Off Illness: To start, the infrared sauna can enhance the body’s detoxification process by flushing out toxins and reducing inflammation throughout the body. By raising your body’s temperature the infrared sauna can help get rid of bacteria that causes infection. Another way the infrared sauna treats the common cold is that it stimulates energy production in the cells, particularly looking at white blood cells and the cells of the immune system.

Regular infrared sauna use can also aid in weight loss, anti-aging processes, and pain relief!

Our partners at Ashburn Natural Wellness have multiple sauna packages to choose from for clients in their Ashburn office! You can book your sauna session here!
